Search form help

Entry Explanation
Find by ID To find CodeCentral submissions by ID, you can enter in a single CodeCentral ID, or multiple IDs separated by commas. If you specify avalue for this field in the search form, all other values entered into the search form will be ignored.
Product All entries are submitted for a specific product. If you want to search for only that product, you can select it from the search list. If you want to search all products, press the "All" button to select all products.".
Version All entries are submitted for a range of versions. If you want to search for only one version of the product, enter it as both the low andhigh value for the version. If you want to search for a range of versions, enter the low value as the low version and the high value as the highversion, and all submissions that fall between those two versions will appear in your search results.
Keywords The keywords for every submission are determined by extracting the unique "words" from the title and description of the entry. These "words" can be alphanumeric, since this is a technical database. You can require words in your searchby using a plus (+) sign in front of the word. You can exclude entries containing specific words in your search by using a minus (-) sign in front of the word. The or (|) sign is optional, indicating words that may appear in the search but are not required.

Wildcards are also supported for searching. The asterisk(*) is the wildcard for one or more characters in the pattern match. The question mark (?) is the wildcard for a single character.

The following table provides some examples. Keyword matching is case-insensitive.

Keywords Search Criteria
+Linux +Database Only give me submissions that have both "Linux" and "Database" in their keyword list
+OpenGL -raster* Only give me submissions that have "OpenGL" and don't have anything beginning with "raster".
COM DCOM ActiveX Give me submissions that have "COM", "DCOM" or "ActiveX" as keywords.
+CORBA +Java Give me submissions that have both "CORBA" and "Java"
+graph* -bitmap -metafile Give me anything that begins with "graph" but doesn't have "bitmap" or "metafile"
Category All entries are submitted for a specific category. If you want to search for only that Category, you can select it from the search list.
Submitter All entries are submitted by a specific CodeCentral user. If you want to search for entries uploaded by a specific person, you can enter theirname or email address in this field. You can enter
  • first name followed by last name (like "Frank Borland")
  • last name, first name (like "Borland, Frank")
  • email address (like "fborland@borland.com")
CodeCentral will attempt to match the value you put in this field with a CodeCentral user, and give you only submissions uploaded by that user.
Copyright All entries have a default copyright status when they are submitted. If you want to search entries with a specific kind of Copyright, you canselect it from the search list. If you want to search all Copyrights, leave this field at the default search value of "Any copyright (for searching)".
Updated Whenever an entry is uploaded or modified, it is stamped with the current date. You can use this option to search for entries submitted or updatedbetween a specific range of dates. Leaving it at the default values will find everything up to today's date (the date on the CodeCentral server).
Show This option allows you to specify the maximum number of entries for CodeCentral to return to you. Because there are many entries in thedatabase, result sets could get very large and take a long time todownload. If you specify a minimum value, the server will tell you when there are more entries than you want to retrieve.
