ID: 17184, IBM Trackpoint Support OT v.1.0 beta

by Valentino Kyriakides Email: Anonymous

The "IBM Trackpoint Support OpenTool" is an add-on module for the Borland JBuilder IDE, which allows the usage of an IBM notebook trackpoint together with it's third button for scrolling/dragging inside JBuilder. Even this OpenTool is mainly build for users of trackpoint based notebooks, it should also generally work for all other notebooks and mice too, which have and allow the usage of a third mouse button.

Description
DESCRIPTION:
------------

The "IBM Trackpoint Support OpenTool" is an add-on module for the Borland JBuilder IDE, which allows the usage of an IBM notebook trackpoint together with it's third button for scrolling/dragging inside JBuilder. Even this OpenTool is mainly build for users of trackpoint based notebooks, it should also generally work for all other notebooks and mice too, which have and allow the usage of a third mouse button.

TRACKPOINT USAGE NOTES:
-----------------------

The IBM Trackpoint stick should only be moved slowly and not too fast inside JBuilder and in order to function at all, it must be always used in conjunction with the third trackpoint button.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Instead of real scrolling this opentool uses a sort of viewport dragging for the IBM Trackpoint. This will be indicated by a *move cursor* which appears, if you use the third trackpoint button. So you have to drag up in order to emulate a scroll done and vice versa.

For further installation and usage notes, please take a look into the distributions "Readme.html" file.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE USED:
---------------------------

- IBM ThinkPad 770 Trackpoint under Windows 2000 with Trackpoint driver
- IBM ScrollPoint mouse under Windows 2000 with IBM Mouse Suite
- JBuilder 5.0 and 6.0 under Windows 2000

WARRANTY AND TERMS OF USE:
--------------------------

This IBM Trackpoint Support OpenTool, has still a sort of beta status. Thus it can be seen as a quick and dirty hack from me, just in order to use JBuilder a little better together with my IBM ThinkPad. So this software is provided "as is" with no warranty of any kind. I take no responsibility for any damages that may result from using it. In such cases, blame yourself.
